3/8/14

It wasn't quite the productive day that I wanted, but I am feeling better, just a little weak and my mind is a little cloudy.

We did get quite a bit done today, it just wasn't the stuff I had really wanted to get done, which was work related.

We slept in a little, and cleaned a lot. I decluttered the house while Travis was at the church playing pick up basketball with our ward. I thought he deserved a little time off cleaning since he has been cooking and cleaning all week as I have pretty much been out of commission. When he got back Travis cleaned out the fridge which I really appreciated cuz I was dreading it. I cleaned the bathroom and reorganized our pantry, it was a mess.

We got to go on a walk, it was beautiful outside! Travis' parents came to our apartment to watch the BYU game. I didn't want to watch the game/didn't want to expose them to my illness so I stayed in our room and switched off between hazy napping and making our wedding day album on shutterfly which I ordered :) Then Travis parents took us to dinner at Brick oven.

We came home and watched the social network (Travis was on his mission when it came out so hadn't seen it yet). Then Travis left for a soccer game and I amused myself on the internet reading articles and looking up funny things.

3/7/14

Well I am still sick.

I took my test yesterday in 20 minutes, and I am pretty sure I rocked it, at least got a B, which in this class is more than okay with me.

I went to work and we met about the grant we are working on. My part was already completely finished. I was the only one who didn't procrastinate haha. So I go the lovely task of doing all of the edits and stuff. Around 3:30 I was hacking up a storm and I had very concerned coworkers give me medicine, ask me if I was okay and then politely tell me to go home. haha

I went home, worked for a couple more hours and then watched Gravity with my honey. It was alright.

The next morning I woke up at 5 am and was coughing so hard. I got up to go sit on the couch because I could tell there was no going back to sleep for me and I didnt want to bother Travis. He heard me grab my stuff and was like, what are you doing? I told him and he said no I am fine come back to bed. He cuddled me and in between my fits of coughing and crying told me everything was going to be alright. He is my sweetheart. I was able to fall asleep sitting up for another hour.

When Travis got up for school he convinced me to make a doctors appt. and I did. The doctor was awesome and gave me a diagnosis and some medicine to get better and for my cough. My favorite part of my treatment plan that he described was that my husband had to give me massages, cook, and do all the dishes until I was better :) haha!!

I had to miss my cohort party because I didn't feel very good and didn't want to make anyone sick, which was a bummer. But travis and I watched a couple movies and he made me chicken noodle soup. We went to sleep around 9:30 and I slept for a full 8 hours. I feel much better today! hopefully I can get some stuff done finally :)

3/5/14

Other than being sick (yup still a thing) today was a pretty good day.

All morning I sat on the couch feeling like I couldn't move or think.  So naturally I watched some TV. I decided to take some ibuprofin for my headache and resumed said TV watching until it took effect. To my suprise my husband walked in during the middle of one of my shows. I was slightly ashamed that I was still in Pj's at noon, but then I was just like ugh whatever. He worked on homework and I finally got to work on a big work project, which I miraculously finished.

Travis had to leave again around 3:30 and I continued to work until I went to get my sister from orem at 4:45. We headed to BYU to meet up with my friend Amanda at the cougareat. Then we got in a huge line to listen to Elizabeth Smart. Since I just finished her book I was really excited. We waited in line for an hour before we were seated, then another how before the presentation started.

Suprisngly Elizabeth was not a very dynamic speaker. She recounted the story of what happened to her and then spent a couple of minutes talking about moving on. I was a little bummed that all she did was summarize her book, since I had already read it. I am still incredibly amazed by her and what she has overcome.

Then I went home and studied for my test that's tomorrow :/ (we also studied for a bit in line). and went to bed. It was my ultimate goal to not cough a lot when I went to sleep, because I have been keeping Travis up all night the past couple nights. I didn't sleep very good, but I think he finally did! Hopefully this nasty cough goes away soon!

3/4/14

Well I was completely useless today (Travis thought that was a funny way of putting it) but its how I feel. I was so tired from coughing and not sleeping last night that I just could not get myself to do hard tasks.

I watched the oscars, the bachelor, and Grey's Anatomy. Normally I wouldn't consider this a big deal but I have a test and 2 big work assignments due on Thursday. UGH. Why is being sick a thing? I should be grateful that I am lucky enough to have only been sick two weeks out of the year, but should and what I am are two completely different things. Hopefully tomorrow I can get my act together.

We finished the Book Thief tonight and it was incredible. I cried like a baby. After reading the book I felt so close to these characters. The movie changed a lot of little things from the book, and I am sure Travis was getting annoyed that I had to point out every single one, but it didn't make me like the movie less. I am amazed at the amount of suffering some people in this life have to go through. I know Liesel is a fictional character, but I know there are a ton of stories like her own.

I just read in the Deseret News today about a women whose husband was murdered by his lovers husband. Not only did his wife find out that day that her husband had been murdered, but she also found out he had been having an affair with someone she knew, one of his co-workers. She has 5 kids with the youngest being 6 weeks old. I don't know how people manage to get through the hard things they do. But I am inspired by them.

I am grateful that people willingly tell their stories of suffering because it inspires me. I am grateful for people like Elizabeth Smart who tell their story, move on, and become a voice for change. I get to see her at BYU tomorrow night and I could't be more excited, she is an incredible person who went through a horrible trial. Because of these amazing sharers I know that when my time comes I can get through anything this life throws at me. I hope that whenever that time comes I can draw strength from others to help get me through it.

3/3/14

Sunday I did absolutely nothing because I got sick. again. Today was a little more exciting. I went in to work at ORCA and got a lot of work done. We had indian food for lunch and watched some cool Ted talks. I left work feeling happy and accomplished :)  I came home and Travis made a delicious dinner. I promised him that we could go out for Ice cream after. I love how well we are doing with eating vegetables. This meal had about 8 different veggies. It was a Pf Changs Frezzer meal that you cook on a skillet, super easy.

I developed a pretty nasty cough by the end of the day and was worried that Ice cream would make it worse, but Travis looked heart broken when I mentioned that so we went to coldstone anyways and used some gift cards we got from our wedding. It was delicious, but I coughed all night :( We then watched half of The Book Thief at home.

3/1/14

It was another busy day at the Sievers house. We slept in till 9:30 and then raced off to our first thing of the day, BYU alumni financial seminar. It was really good. We went to a class on buying a house and on on budgeting/saving for the future. We learned we won't be buying a house anytime soon (so much stress involved in that process) and that we need to start saving for retirement now :)

Then we came home and cleaned the house, like we do every saturday! We got ready for my friends from high school to come over for potluck lunch. Everyone was late due to a bad crash on the streets, but we still were able to hang out for a couple hours and catch up.

After I headed over to Plato's closet to meet up with my friend Jaimie (shopping there is our thing). I didn't buy a single thing, I wasn't really in the shopping groove. We went to zuoas for dinner and met up with my friend Adrienne. The big event of the night was a performance by the BYU philharmonic and Jazz band honoring the life and work of Frank Sinatra, I love Sinatras music. The only bummer was that they didn't play my favorite song, All of me. It was a really good performance. Sinatra's pianist/conductor was part of the show and the singer they brought in was a very talented BYU alumni.

We also munched some Macarons. Aren't they pretty??
